The McElroy TracStar® 412 Series 2 has undergone a complete redesign based on direct feedback from users in the field. This new machine shares a common vehicle platform with the 28, 250, and 618 models of TracStars and is powered by a robust diesel engine, which is particularly beneficial for jobsites where gasoline is not allowed.
Designed for butt fusing pipe sizes ranging from 4” IPS to 12” DIPS (110mm to 340mm), the TracStar 412 Series 2 is a self-contained, self-propelled, track-mounted vehicle that can handle slopes of up to 30 percent.
The updated cowling design enhances heat dissipation while also facilitating easier access for machine maintenance. An improved electrical system increases circuit protection, and a standard battery disconnect feature has been added for easy lockout.
The TracStar 412 Series 2 fusion machines come equipped with an interchangeable 4-jaw carriage that can be easily removed for in-ditch fusions. For tighter installations, the outer fixed jaw and skid can be removed from the carriage, converting it into a compact 3-jaw carriage for more efficient fusions.
Additionally, the Automated TracStar 412 Series 2 option guides the operator through a step-by-step process for fusing pipe. This feature automates the control of the heat, soak, fuse, and cool cycles. A hydraulic clamping option is also available.
