The McElroy TracStar® 28 shares a common vehicle platform with the 250, 412i, and 618i ranges of TracStar machines and is powered by a robust diesel engine, making it ideal for job sites where gasoline is not allowed.
Designed to butt-fuse pipe sizes ranging from 2” IPS to 8” DIPS (63mm to 225mm), the TracStar 28 is a self-contained, self-propelled, track-mounted vehicle capable of handling grades of up to 30 percent.
The new cowling design enhances airflow and increases hydraulic fluid capacity. A standard battery disconnect is included for easy lockout.
The TracStar 28 fusion machines feature an interchangeable 4-jaw carriage that can be easily removed for in-ditch fusions. For tighter installations, the outer fixed jaw and skid can be removed, converting it into a 3-jaw carriage, resulting in a more compact fusion unit.
Additionally, the 28 can be ordered as a Combination Unit (CU), allowing for the fusion of branch saddles with a maximum base diameter of 9.63 inches onto any size main pipe.
